Stichting Amma steunt de Self Help Groups (SHG) van SAVE. De doelgroep bestaat uit vrouwen uit de armere bevolkingsgroepen en heeft als doel om hen sociaal en economisch weerbaar te maken. Dat wordt bereikt door hen toegang te verschaffen tot opleiding, training, microkredieten en financiële ondersteuning. SAVE organiseert en steunt de SHG's.

SAVE over de Women Self Help Groups

Women Development Cell (WDC) aims to facilitate and to enable the poor downtrodden and oppressed women towards their socio, economic, cultural and political empowerment. One of the core activities of WDC is the promotion of economic initiatives through the Self Help Groups (SHGs).

SAVE has put forth effort in forming 850 women self help groups with 9599 members in the municipality and in the panchayats of Tirupur. Hitherto, the loan recipients benefited were 8700 persons, the total loan amount disbursed stands to Rs. 82.15 lakhs. The main activities for empowering women through SHGs are.

• Federating women self help groups for lobbying and advocacy
• Catering training and support for the functioning SHGs
• Imparting skill training programmes for meeting their vocational requisites
• Educating the groups for the promotion of insurance coverage, eventually enabling them to accept their value of life
• Substantiating their economic standard through implementation of Income Generation Programmes
• Developing self employment skills through Entrepreneur Development Programmes (EDP)
• Mobile health care service constantly held to diagnose the health plights of people in rural areas of Tirupur block
• Enabling sensibility among SHGs members to exercise their social Responsibilities on organizing campaigns against child labour, violence on women and environment pollution
